Rabies dog vaccine

Dogs need rabies shots to prevent the deadly virus. Rabies is abundant among raccoons, bats, foxes, and skunks, putting dogs at risk.

Dogs must have the rabies vaccine in most places. Dog bites can spread rabies, so regular vaccinations protect pets and people.

The rabies vaccine is usually administered to puppies between 12-16 weeks. They get another booster one year later and every 1–3 years depending on vaccine kind, public health restrictions, and veterinary suggestion.

Year-long and multi-year vaccinations exist. Based on health, age, and rabies certificate requirements, your vet decides when.

Dogs may have slight lethargy, injection site discomfort, fever, and decreased appetite after rabies immunizations. Rarely, allergic reactions are severe.

Licensed veterinarian vaccinations protect against disease best. Dog rabies vaccines are safe and effective, protecting over 99% of vaccinated animals for over a year with each booster.
